The Purpose of TUBACHRISTMAS®
-
Invite tuba and euphonium players of all ages to rehearse and present free public concerts of Christmas Carols, (Carols of a MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS®, published and made available by HPF, NO PHOTOCOPIES); provide the players a rewarding musical experience; instill in them a sense of pride and dedication to music and their chosen instrument; illustrate the beauty of the tuba family choir to a public audience.
-
Bring about a better understanding and appreciation for the tuba family of instruments by generating an audience which will recognize and support these instruments in solo and ensemble concerts throughout the year.
-
Pay respect to the creator of TUBACHRISTMAS® - Harvey G. Phillips(d) and in honor of his teacher, tubist William J. Bell (d), and through them, and to other artists/teachers who have contributed to our musical heritage.
-
Honor and acknowledge American composer Alec Wilder (died Christmas Eve 1980) for his compositions, and Norlan Bewley for each arranging Carols for a MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS®, and through them, pay grateful respect to all composers who have contributed to the repertoire of the tuba family
